How do we protect a community?

A group of unusual beach bungalow blocks with pedestrian only access are rehabilitated after being inundated during Hurricane Sandy. The work involves a mix of preservation and new construction supported by government funding with the following objectives:

• how to preserve multi-generational workforce housing
• how to plan for resiliency at the scale of a community
• how to respect the historic scale of a neighborhood

The Courts of Sheepshead Bay received a Commendation for Resilience from AIA Brooklyn in 2022
