To enliven and enlarge this former tenement dwelling, all partitions separating the living spaces were removed. These were replaced with a series of five white cabinetry modules of varying sizes. The new modules define the basic activities of living, cooking and sleeping but also permit space and sunlight to flow seamlessly throughout the apartment. Fabricated and installed by a local shop in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, the cabinets supply the apartment with a surplus of new storage and display space, both rare commodities in midtown Manhattan.
